From the simplest personal project to the biggest business site, we have a hosting platform that fits you perfectly. Few web hosts offer everything from world-class shared hosting with one-click WordPress installs to Linux-based VPS hosting and even a private cloud service—but we do.Value
When you compare the real costs, Media Temple gives you more for your money. Faster hardware, smarter software, and top-notch support might cost a few more dollars, but we think they’re worth it. And our customers agree.Innovation
We’re turned on by new ideas and new technology. And whether we’re providing free infrastructure for open source projects and events, investing in creative innovators around the world, or advocating for a more open Internet, we put our money where our mouths (and hearts) are. It’s the same spirit that’s driven us to develop our own products, from building one of the web’s original public clouds (the Grid) to partnering with Dell and MorphLabs to create the first OpenStack-powered private cloud service (Helix).
Armed with little more than a PO box and a desire to be his own boss, Media Temple founder Demian Sellfors filed the required paperwork and created Intergress Technologies on his birthday in 1998. Despite already having what many would consider a pretty cool job — IT Director for Stan Winston’s famed special effects studio — Sellfors saw an opportunity he couldn’t resist.
After operating as Intergress Technologies for two years, Sellfors and his Co-Founder/CFO, John Carey, merged with a web design studio called Media Temple. Sensing an opportunity to bring higher standards to the web hosting industry, where there were a few large providers and several untrustworthy operators that would often just disappear in the middle of the night, the newly merged company became solely focused on web hosting. Sellfors knew that he and Carey could deliver a more sophisticated class of B2B Internet services, services that would earn the trust of actual IT and creative professionals.
Around this time, the company’s identity started coming into focus. When one of the web’s earliest design blogs, Kaliber10000 or K10K, was having hosting trouble, Sellfors — a graphic designer himself — offered to host their site on Media Temple’s servers at no charge. As a big admirer of K10K, he felt he was in a unique position to give something back to the site’s creators and the design community. (mt)’s success at reviving K10K solidified the company’s reputation as the premium hosting choice for designers and developers. (mt)’s connection to the creative community hasn’t wavered since; the company has donated more than $10 million to creative conferences, events, and festivals over the past 15 years.
Meanwhile, Media Temple continued to grow along with its client base. The company began to develop new and innovative products to help designers and developers do their jobs. (mt) also become synonymous with amazing customer service and was the first hosting company to handle support requests over Twitter. Further, Sellfors was committed to creating an exceptional place to work. For the past six years, (mt) has been voted as one of the best workplaces in Los Angeles. After more than 15 years in the industry, (mt) remains true to its founders’ vision: providing a higher standard of service with creativity, innovation, and dedication.
