What is Shared Hosting Plus?
It's the best of both worlds - the amped up power of a Virtual Private Server, but with an easy-to-use control panel that doesn't require a degree in Computer Science. The UI is nearly identical to the standard Shared Hosting, making the upgrade a smooth transition. However, you receive a multitude of new features and dedicated resources to power your sites.
When should I upgrade to Shared Hosting Plus?
We recommend upgrading if you're experiencing any of the following on your Shared Hosting server:
- Maxing out your RAM, CPU/GPU, and I/O.
- Want to create databases larger than 1GB.
- Want free SSL's for all your sites.
- Anticipating jumps in traffic over time.
- Want guaranteed resources.
- Want a dedicated IP.
- Want improved SEO.
How can I upgrade to Shared Hosting Plus?
Shared Hosting customers:
Contact Support and a Guide can assist you in auto-migrating your content to Shared Hosting Plus. It's that easy!
Other server types (Managed WordPress, Grid, VPS, etc):
Customers can manually perform an upgrade by opening a new Shared Hosting Plus server and conducting a manual migration. If you need more direct assistance in manually migrating, Advanced Support offers a Move a Site service.
Do I need to prepare anything before migrating?
If you want to have your server auto-migrated when performing an upgrade, you will want to ensure your current disk space is below a certain limit (which scales depending on the Shared Hosting Plus plan you choose). This is to prevent errors or migration failures from occurring. The limits are listed below:
- Launch: 39.06/60 GB
- Enhance: 68.36/90 GB
- Grow: 97.66/120 GB
- Expand: 126.95/150 GB
Do I need to do anything during the migration?
There is no work required for the customer while a migration is underway. In fact, we generally advise customers to not make changes to their server/sites during the migration. Generally the process will take 24-72 hours to complete, depending on the size and complexity of your server.
Do I need to do anything after migrating?
Generally there is no work required on the customer's end. However, we do recommend double checking your sites and DNS post-migration.
Is it possible to downgrade?
Unfortunately it is not possible to use auto-migration to downgrade your server. If you wish to downgrade, you can open a new server and manually migrate your content.
