End Of Life

Hosting related technology and services develop quickly and are constantly changing. Periodically some products become antiquated or deprecated due to major enhancements and/or because a third-party vendor has discontinued support or future development.

Although (mt) Media Temple makes great efforts to maximize the life span of all its software and hardware, there are times when a product will be discontinued or reach its "end of life." Below are a list of products that are either discontinued, will be discontinued, or are no longer being offered (Existing servers will be maintained).

(fc) Flash Communications Server on (ss) Shared Server 12-15-2008 No See below

(fc) Flash Communications Server for (ss) Shared Server

As of 09-01-2006 (mt) Media Temple ended all but core service support for the (fc) Flash Communications Server on (ss) Shared Server line of products. We are now announcing an Official End Of Life notice for the (fc) FlashCom add-on service. This includes the following products:

  • (fc) Concept
  • (fc) Junction
  • (fc) Deploy
  • (fc) Capacity
  • (fc) Shout

The Official EOL Server Sunset Date for these servers will be 12-15-2008.

Please keep in mind that this is NOT an End Of Life notice for your (ss) Shared-Server Service. This is strictly in reference to the (fc) FlashCom add-on service you have purchased and are currently using with your (ss).

Any current customers that are still on this server should prepare for a final shutdown within 30 days of the EOL date. At that point your (fc) FlashCom service will be shut down -- the data and services residing on it will no longer be accessible in any form.

  • All data-feeds and applications currently running on the server will be halted
  • The server will be taken offline permanently
  • Any incoming traffic will see the server as unavailable
  • Any related wiki articles will be un-published

If you are not currently using the (fc) services with your websites we recommend you immediately submit a Request To Close the add-on service through your AccountCenter. For your convenience we have prepared a step-by-step guide on how to do this.

If you are currently using this service you may still access your files up to and following the Server Sunset Date. The (fc) FlashCom service only streams your content stored on your (ss) Shared-Server through the streaming protocol -- your files will not be touched or modified in any way, shape or form.

If you still wish or need to have this functionality, you have the following options as possible alternatives:

  1. Migrate to a (dv) or (ve) Server and explore your options for a suitable custom deployment. As a courtesy, we have the following links available as possible solutions:

Should you choose to implement one of these custom configurations, (mt) Media Temple will be unable to assist in the installation, configuration, or troubleshooting of any such third-party software. We invite you to join our (mt) User Forums to connect with others and work together to find the best solutions. Find out more about joining our community.

If you should have any further questions regarding our Scope of Support, please visit the official Statement of Support page.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this End Of Life announcement, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Any current users that are still on this server should prepare for a final shutdown within 30 days of the EOL date. At that point your (ss) Shared Server MX service will be shut down, the data and services residing on it will no longer be accessible in any form.

  • The server will be taken offline permanently
  • All data currently on the server will be deleted
  • All backups will be deleted
  • Any incoming traffic will see the server as unavailable
  • Any email traffic will be bounced permanently

We currently do not offer any hosting products that feature the Adobe ColdFusion software suite. If you are not currently using Coldfusion with your websites we recommend getting a (gs) Grid-Service and moving your websites to it. In addition to newer versions of software, the (gs) Grid-Service also provides a clustered hosting environment at a lower cost and is much more scalable than your current (ss) Shared Server.

Please keep in mind that if you DO need ColdFusion MX functionality you will need to find a suitable host that provides this as a hosted service, or consider getting a (dv) Dedicated-Virtual or (dpv) Nitro Server and explore your options for a suitable CFML runtime engine. As a courtesy, we have the following links available as possible solutions:
