CloudFlare now includes Railgun, a service that speeds up websites once thought “un-cacheable” - for example, with rapidly changing or personalized content.
CloudFlare is a free CDN (content delivery network) with a security layer that ’just works‘ in conjunction with your existing hosting service. When we learned about it, we knew our customers had to have it.
Just log into the AccountCenter to get CloudFlare up and running on your (mt) site in 5 minutes. Step-by-step instructions can be found in this KnowledgeBase article.
With CloudFlare enabled, you upload all your files to your (mt) hosting service like you normally would. If you make updates to your site, (mt) will serve any new files while CloudFlare updates its global network. You also have control over your cache settings.
Railgun is a new component of CloudFlare that accelerates the connection between each CloudFlare data center and an origin server. It caches previously uncacheable pages so that even when the origin server must be consulted, web pages are delivered very fast. It even works for rapidly changing pages like news sites.
CloudFlare-enabled sites can support SSL encryption (https://) when you upgrade to a paid service through CloudFlare.
You can switch CloudFlare off anytime you want through your AccountCenter. Step-by-step instructions are in this KnowledgeBase article.
The free Cloudflare with Railgun service is available for our Grid hosting plans only. Not a customer yet? Learn more about the Grid.
