(gs) Grid-Service Django Container

Project Progress: 90%

(gs) Grid-Service Django Container

Private Beta testing is now in the final stages. We're no longer accepting applications for testers. Existing testers can follow the project in the forums. You can also keep updated on the latest project announcements by visiting the Django GridContainer section of the weblog.

  • Lightweight Web Server The Django GridContainer utilizes lighttpd in front of persistent FastCGI processes. Your applications are running at all times inside the Container.

  • Total Resource Isolation The Django GridContainer isolates resources with industry-leading virtualization software. The only limitation is the container resources themselves (RAM, CPU). No bad neighbor effect.

  • On-Demand UpgradesMemory and CPU resources can be upgraded with the click of a button at any time.

  • Reboot Capable In the event a customer exceeds the RAM or CPU limitations of their Django GridContainer they can reboot on-the-fly via a single click in our AccountCenter.

  • Container-level Disk I/O Django GridContainer is optimized and tuned for optimum performance and to handle disk I/O for each container, not an entire server. This results in improved speed and reliability.

  • Zero GPU Impact This is a dedicated offering. Use as much as you want within the limits of your Django GridContainer resources.

The new Django GridContainer system, another industry first, allows (gs) customers to have their own dedicated Django server. The GridContainer provides an unshared copy of Django, utilizing lighttpd and persistent FastCGI, along with dedicated RAM and CPU resources. The Django GridContainer allows for a stable, high performing, application environment. The technology is based on the same proven approach that is successfully powering the MySQL and RoR GridContainer systems. It eliminates the ambiguous and disruptive nature of a shared model and allows customers the confidence that any performance limitations derive only from the RAM and CPU limitations of the Django GridContainer itself, not from competing customers.
