Account Transfer Policy

Occasionally a situation arises where there is an issue of possession of data. Sometimes domain ownership is in question or needing to be changed. The following article should, hopefully help you find a resolution to these issues.

For the purposes of this article, the following is true:

Claimant - person or company making the claim.
Account Owner - person listed as the service or account owner in our system.

The following are possible scenarios for a Media Temple account ownership dispute:

  1. The Claimant owns the domain but is not the Account Owner.

  2. The Account Owner was an employee of Claimant but is no longer in contact.

Under scenario #1, if the Claimant is still in contact with the current Account Owner, we require the necessary documentation submitted by the listed owner, per the transfer of account ownership document.

Under scenario #2, if scenario 1 is not possible, then Claimant will need to provide proof they are the rightful Account Owner.

If Claimant cannot prove ownership through the given methods, a lawyer or arbiter is recommended to resolve your dispute with the current Account Owner.

If you have any further questions about the above scenarios and forms please refer to the Transfer Account Ownership article in the (mt) Wiki.
