We find (mt)’s Dedicated Virtual machines allow us the scalability to grow our company at our own pace. The support staff has been fast and responsive, but I am honestly even more impressed with their massive knowledge base and member forums. We have been able to find the answer to almost all of our questions. Media Temple has truly been our favorite hosting company to work with.
The EPA estimates that in 2006, US citizens sent 12.5 million tons of reusable items to the landfill. Current technology can be employed to connect members of a community in their shared goal of keeping useful products out of landfills. Gigoit.org connects individuals, organizations and universities to donate and receive free reusable items within their neighborhoods. Items are easily posted with geographic location, category, title, description and optional images. We provide an advanced search engine, custom RSS feeds, Facebook application and Google Integration.
During our first year, members, universities and charitable organizations requested many additional features. These include; worldwide coverage, connecting donors to organizations with specific needs, and facilitating reuse on campus. We are currently researching the best method of implementing these features and are working with organizations and universities to better understand their unique needs.
