Media Temple's Second NYC Table Tennis Invitational

When it comes to table tennis, we’ve never believed there’s such a thing as too many tournaments. So after taking Chicago by (snow)storm seven months ago and heating up Los Angeles this summer, yet again, it only made sense to return, on an uncharacteristically warm and balmy day, to New York City.

Competitors and friends alike emerged from each of the five boroughs to congregate at SPiN in the Flatiron district of Manhattan on October 19. Almost twice the size of our previous tournament in the Big Apple, 64 teams, many representing the city’s finest creative and digital agencies, stepped up to eight tables to fight for the title of champion. An hour of fierce play led to a marquee final match between Coffee & Crumpets and Stink Digital. Stink Digital came out to an early lead with their vicious serve but, as the old song goes, anything can change in a New York minute. Coffee & Crumpets quickly gained steam to be crowned victors and take the spoils of a swag bag alongside a generous donation to Teens Exploring Technology, a Los Angeles non-profit that uses technology to promote positive youth development and leadership in urban communities.

A big thanks to all of the participants and their cheerleading crew who made this tournament better than ever! Check out the video above (and the photos on our Facebook page) to see some of the highlights!
