Major Upgrades to Media Temple’s VPS and Dedicated Server Hosting Solutions

Great news: We have rolled out major upgrades to our Virtual Private Server (VPS) and our Dedicated Server hosting plans. Not only are they now powered by Solid State Drives (SSD), but they also feature increased bandwidth, doubled RAM, and still come with industry-leading uptime, our award-winning 24/7 customer support and one-click scaling, to meet users’ evolving needs.

We are constantly improving our solutions to offer premium hosting services to better serve our customers. By bringing blazing fast and highly responsive VPS and Dedicated Server hosting solutions that are more reliable than ever, we want to provide them with what they need the most (extra storage, bandwidth and memory) but also what they want in terms high availability, flexibility, and simplicity.

While we were at it, we optimized our DV (VPS with control panel) hosting solution and turned it into a true “managed” hosting plan. This means security and performance monitoring, as well as automated backups, added to DV’s existing capabilities for OS and app installs and updates. In short, we now offer a full tiered suite of VPS hosting services, from self-managed (DV Developer) and managed (DV) to our recently relaunched fully managed plan.

We also teamed up with SiteLock to create a comprehensive security solution. DV users can utilize the new Security Issues page to see the results and details of real-time checks and daily scans for malware, vulnerability, and spam. Separately, we have implemented a week’s worth of daily backups supplemented by four weekly back-ups a month. That’s a total of 11 different rollbacks to choose from when things get tough.

Web designers, developers, smaller creative agencies and boutique studios should find the high reliability, setup/management consistency, and out-of-the-box readiness they need with our upgraded DV, which also features the following enhancements:

·       Increased bandwidth limits (now up to 10TB).
·       Doubled RAM limits (now up to 128GB).
·       Low-density provisioning that maximizes throughput  – no noisy neighbor!
·       Latest OS and software options.
·       Built-in premium hardware (Kingston SSDs).

Our updated DV Developer boasts the same low-density provisioning, significantly increased bandwidth and RAM, as well as built-in premium hardware using multi-core Intel Xeon processors. App developers, sys admin, Linux geeks, resellers and creative agencies, to name but a few users, will find the complete control, API access, and no bloat to install exactly what they are looking for.

All you need to know (and more) about the ultimate flexibility and control our newly upgraded VPS or Dedicated Server hosting solutions have to offer is available here – and in case you were wondering, you can try them all risk-free with our 30-day money back guarantee.

Usually I would be excited with this kind of news from MediaTemple, but the upgrade to my DV has taken 2 days and unbelievable downtime, still ongoing. Thumbs down.

    • Very sorry to hear that Wallace. I can’t find your site just based off the name Wallace but are you currently in touch with our support team? I want to make sure you’re getting the help you need. ^DJ

People would love to join your VPS if you can provide a easy way for them to move their whole websites to yours.

    • Thanks for the feedback! We understand that, depending on the size and nature of certain websites, migrations may not always be an easy task. If you need further help on the easiest way to migrate your site on your
own, depending on your specifics, I would recommend getting in touch
with our support team who can ask you a few questions about what you’ll
be moving and give you the best advice they can. For situations where you do not want to migrate your site on your own, you can always enlist the help of our CloudTech team who will perform the migration for you. ^DJ

Great and thanks for the upgrade, but to take our sites down for about 40 minutes today in the middle of the day is totally unacceptable for an update. When I contacted support by chat today, they told me that it had been “announced” and was an automated system and it could take several hours and there was nothing that could be done to provide an ETA. We just had to wait it out. Luckily it was only about 40 minutes.

    • Hi Keith. Really sorry you had that issue – I was able to look into it and I’m glad we were able to get your site up asap. Sometimes, when migrating to new servers, a little downtime is necessary and we do everything we can to give our customers proper warning of said situations. Glad to see the migration went well and you’re back up now! ^AR
