Since the creation of OpenType in 1996, thousands of fonts have been created each year, and hundreds of them have been integrated into your everyday life. Fonts are an integral part of any brand identity and experience. As an example, font choice was a critical decision when we redesigned the Media Temple website in 2014. In order to create a better user experience, we decided to switch our entire site to Brandon Text in order to create a leaner, more inviting interface. People’s positive reaction back then (and still now!) further proved how fonts can frame ideas, trigger emotions, and, even, indirectly influence the way we make purchase decisions.
We want to see what fonts stand out to you on a daily basis – in either a good or a bad way! As you’re out and about this summer, snap a photo of a sign, logo, coffee cup, etc. that catches your eye. Post the photo on Instagram using the hashtags #fontsinthewild and tag @mediatemple. (Bonus points if you can name the font).
You can submit one photo a day for the rest of July. The photo we like the most each week will win a prize. Additionally, each submission puts you in the running for one of our three Grand Prizes. Check out the rules here.
