Poke (pronounced /poke-eh/) is made with seasoned ahi tuna, marinated in onions and other veggies. It may be best described as Hawaiian-style tuna tartare, or “surfer’s sashimi.” Is your mouth watering yet?
Poke-Poke, on the other hand, is the passion project of local entrepreneurs Trisha Fortuna and Jason McVearry. They returned from a Hawaiian vacation several years ago with a new hunger for fresh tuna made to order—and a plan to bring their own version to the famished beachcombers of Venice.
